Thoughts from Stewart Shepherd

As I sit here on a Wednesday afternoon, I keep thinking of all the Hospice Hope places that I used to go to before lockdown, I guess you do too.  Monday was Hope House: Tuesday was Ibstock Support Café; Wednesday was Coalville Support Café; Friday was Ashby Support Café and from time to time to Castle Donington Support Café. It sounds a little extreme, but it never felt that way.  It was a joy and a privilege to meet with Hospice Hope’s guests and volunteers at the different venues.

Zoom is a wonderful tool, but it does not begin to compare with meeting face to face, listening, laughing (so much of that) and taking part in the great variety of activities – except the knitting!

The way our staff, volunteers and trustees have stepped into this new environment has been an inspiration.  The resilience of our guests and the way they have adapted has been a real encouragement.

So, until Covid goes away (the sooner the better), I will have to make do with Zoom and email.
